Information Studies Research Collection

Information Studies is part of the Faculty of Media, Society and Culture at Curtin Unversity. The Research Collection is a collection of historical and often rare materials, concerned with the evolution and practice of Library Science. It consists of monographs, serials, published papers, periodicals and audio-visual materials, as well as unpublished papers and notes.

The collection was established with the aim of providing students with  source materials to assist in the research of Library and Information Science.  Located in building 209 it will be open to students in the ILS, Records Management, and Archives courses.

The Collection

The collection consists of materials which have, over time, grown and developed into a comprehensive and valuable research tool.  Many of the items have been donated from private collections with some publications dating back to the mid 19th century.

The Catalogue

A catalogue of the Research Collection has been created to help users locate materials they need.  The catalogue is stored electronically on an INMAGIC database, made available on the web.  It must be noted that at no time may materials belongings to the collection be taken from the room.
